The museum tells a not well-known story. At the end of the XVI century, when the Protestant Reformation took place and Catholicism was forbidden, some private houses started preserving hidden catholic churches in the attic. This beautiful Baroque church is called Ons' Lieve Heer op Solder (Our Lord in the Attic) and was founded by the merchant Jan Hartman.
